02How this works

How this works

Enter your due date. If you don't have one yet, switch to Last period and enter the first day of your last period and your usual cycle length; the tool works out the due date the same way our due date calculator does. From there it counts how far along you are today in completed weeks and picks that week's size comparison: a poppy seed at 4 weeks, a lime at 12, a banana at 20.

Pick a style (Paper, Blush or Ink) and a shape. Post is 1080 × 1350 pixels (4:5), a portrait size that suits Instagram and Facebook feeds. Story is 1080 × 1920 pixels (9:16) for stories and status updates, with the words kept away from the top and bottom edges where apps put their buttons. The preview is the exact image you download. Save it as a PNG, or on a phone tap Share to send it straight to a chat or an app.

The card prints three things: how many weeks along you are, that week's size comparison, and the month and year you're due. It never prints the exact day. There's no space for names or photos and nothing you type appears on it, so it's safe to post publicly. Add names or your own photo in the post itself.

The size comparisons come from the week-by-week guide in the ProbaBaby app, drawn with the same hand-drawn illustrations. They're a friendly picture of scale, not a measurement: every baby grows at their own pace, and your scans and your midwife or doctor are the real record. Cards cover weeks 4 to 42.

03The math behind it

The math behind it

  1. Weeks along comes from your due date. An estimated due date is set 280 days (40 weeks) after the first day of the last menstrual period (Naegele's rule, ACOG Committee Opinion No. 700), so on any day: days pregnant = 280 − days left until the due date, and weeks along = days pregnant ÷ 7, rounded down. 125 days pregnant is 17 weeks and 6 days, so the card says 17.

  2. If you start from your last period, the tool first computes the due date exactly as our due date calculator does: due date = first day of the last period + 280 days + (cycle length − 28). A 28-day cycle adds nothing; a 35-day cycle moves the due date a week later.

  3. The fruit is a lookup. Each week from 1 to 42 has one size comparison in ProbaBaby's week-by-week guide, and the card uses the row for your completed week. Cards cover weeks 4 to 42. The due month is simply the calendar month of your due date.

  4. Everything is counted in calendar days, not hours, so the week never flips at a different time of day depending on your time zone. The preview uses your device's date.

Shared the news? Bring the family into the app

The card tells people. The app lets the people closest to you follow along: grandparents, your partner and anyone helping with the baby.

The app also

  1. Invite family by QR code or an 8-character code, as mom, dad, grandparent or caregiver. Family sharing is free.
  2. Pregnancy tracking, birth-prep checklists and supplements sync to everyone the moment they join; feeds, sleep and diapers do too once the baby arrives.
  3. Week-by-week content for weeks 1 to 42, with your baby's size each week.
  4. A shareable card for your baby prediction, made for Instagram Stories.

Free to download and use: pregnancy, baby and mom tracking, 32 tools, PDF reports, widgets, Apple Watch and family sharing cost nothing. Only AI baby predictions use credits.

05Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

There's no medical rule; it's your news. Many people wait until the end of the first trimester (13 weeks 6 days) or until after an early scan, and tell close family sooner. The card works from week 4 onward. Make it on the day you post, so the week is up to date.

The card uses the size comparisons from ProbaBaby's week-by-week guide: a poppy seed at 4 weeks, a blueberry at 7, a lime at 12, an avocado at 16, a banana at 20, an ear of corn at 24 and a small pumpkin at 40. They're a friendly way to picture the scale, not a measurement. Your baby grows at their own pace.

From your due date. A due date is set 280 days (40 weeks) after the first day of the last period, so the days you've been pregnant are 280 minus the days left until your due date. The card shows completed weeks: at 17 weeks and 6 days it says 17. If you start from your last period, the due date is worked out first, adjusted for your cycle length.

No. It shows the month and year you're due (for example "Coming March 2027"), never the day. There's no space for names or photos, and nothing you type is printed, so the card is safe to share publicly.

Post (1080 × 1350, 4:5) for feeds and most chats; Story (1080 × 1920, 9:16) for stories and status updates. The story layout keeps the words away from the top and bottom edges, where apps put their buttons.

Yes. Make as many cards as you like, try every style and download them as PNG files. A small ProbaBaby mark at the bottom of the card lets friends find the tool too.
