## Methodology

We installed every app on a test iPhone in May 2026 and used each for a minimum of two weeks. Reviewers logged daily symptoms, packed a hospital bag, ran each app's contraction timer, and tried every free tool. We rated 25+ features across seven categories.

For features we couldn't test directly (e.g., Apple Watch availability), we cross-referenced the App Store listing, the publisher's marketing page, and recent user reviews. Pricing was confirmed in the App Store at time of review.

Ratings are: ✓ full (feature is present and well-built), – partial (feature is present but limited, shallow, or paywalled), × none (feature is absent). Some cells contain a value (price, language count) instead of a rating.

Competitor data reflects observations as of May 2026 and may change. Email us if you spot an error — we update this page when apps ship new versions.

## FAQ

**Why is ProbaBaby the only app here with genetics predictions?**

ProbaBaby is the first major pregnancy app to ship real Mendelian-genetics baby prediction. Other apps use crowd-sourced old wives' tale predictors that are essentially coin-flips. ProbaBaby uses OCA2/HERC2 two-gene models for eye color, polygenic analysis for skin tone and height, and Punnett-square inheritance math. Premium adds a third generation — the grandparents — and confidence is capped at 95%, never 100%, because genetics never gives certainty. Scientific and Standard are two-generation.

**Is Flo really a pregnancy app?**

Flo is primarily a menstrual cycle tracker. It has a pregnancy mode that activates after you log a positive test, but the depth of pregnancy-specific features is shallower than dedicated trackers. Flo is best if you're already a Flo user and value continuity; not best if you want comprehensive pregnancy + birth-prep tooling.

**What's the difference between What to Expect and BabyCenter?**

Both are content-heavy apps backed by major US publishers. What to Expect has the larger active community forum; BabyCenter has a deeper baby module that continues post-birth. They're functionally similar — pick by the brand you've heard of in conversation.

**Are there Android-friendly options on this list?**

Ovia, What to Expect, BabyCenter, Flo, and Pregnancy+ are all on Android. ProbaBaby is currently iOS-only. If you have an Android phone, Ovia is the closest equivalent for feature breadth.

**Which app is best for partners?**

ProbaBaby supports collaborative family sharing with four roles (Mom, Dad, Grandparent, Caregiver) and full real-time sync. Hospital bag items can be assigned to Mom, Dad, or shared. Ovia and BabyCenter have basic 'partner view' modes but no item assignment.

**Is there a private/ad-free pregnancy app?**

ProbaBaby is the only app on this list with zero ads and offline-first storage of sensitive data. Pregnancy+ has lighter ad load than the others but isn't ad-free. Flo settled with the FTC in 2021 over health-data sharing — its privacy story is the weakest.

**Do these apps work in Turkish?**

ProbaBaby and Flo support Turkish. The others (Ovia, What to Expect, BabyCenter, Pregnancy+) are English-first with limited or no Turkish support. If you want full Turkish localization, ProbaBaby is the best choice.
